England earned four gold medals in the first day of the finals at the Bocskai Memorial
The first winners are revealed at the 70th Bocskai Memorial Tournament in Debrecen and England bagged four gold medals out of the ten title contests today.
Hungary’s Paris Olympics quarter-finalist Luca Hamori had a tough teenage opponent in the semi-finals at the women’s 65kg, Netherlands’ Aaliyah Hoppema but she managed to win all of the three rounds therefore she will now meet Slovakia’s Tamara Kubalova for the gold.
Wales’ Owain Harris-Allan has the full focus on the next Commonwealth Games and he worked hard in his semi-final to beat Netherlands’ Mahmoud Al Chabtoun which means the Welsh boy will face for the gold medal with Azerbaijan’s Amin Mammadzada.
Slovakia’s promising Juraj Bona had a tight success over Hungary’s Milan Petriman and his final opponent will be France’s experienced Hugo Grau at the 65kg.
France’s Makan Traore looked stronger in the exchanges than Azerbaijan’s Nabil Isgandarov and he secured his place in the final of the 70kg. The French won this bout by 3:2 split decision and he will be boxing for the gold with Hungary’s Dominik Enekes.
England’s Kyle Shaw-Tullin joined the national team only one and half year ago but he had the strong dominance against Hungary’s Kalman Hanko in the last four of the 75kg to meet another local boxer, Romeo Buza in the final.
France’s Romane Moulai won the first final at the Bocskai Memorial Tournament, she triumphed over her teammate, Wassila Lkhadiri unanimously which was also an important selection battle between the two French.
England’s Ivy-Jane Smith was slightly better than France’s European U19 Champion Maloe Teresi while Bobby Wallace bagged their second title in Debrecen. Mary-Kate Smith defeated Czechia’s Monika Langerova at the women’s 75kg final, earning England’s third gold medal.
Lorena Lopez Mota surprisingly won the Spanish battle over Dunia Martinez at the women’s 70kg before France’s Soheb Bouafia delivered the next sensation beating England’s World silver medallist Teagn Stott at the men’s 90kg.
