Mongolia and Tajikistan celebrated medals at the Asian Elite Boxing Championships
Mongolia and Tajikistan secured medals in the seventh competition day at the Asian Elite Boxing Championships in Mongolia’s capital city, in Ulaanbaatar.
Thailand’s Thipsatcha Yodwaree competed in her first Asian Championships as a junior boxer still back in 2019 and she is now an elite medallist after beating Bhutan’s promising female talent, Chimmi Wangmo at the 48kg.
Mongolia’s Nomundari Enkh-Amgalan is another young talent at the women’s 48kg weight class who had a tough but successful mission against Vietnam’s Pham Thi Quynh Anh in the next quarter-final, earning a medal for the host country.
Uzbekistan’s Nigina Uktamova is a multiple Asian Champion and she accomplished her minimum target in the quarter-finals of the women’s 57kg when she eliminated Chinese Taipei’s Yao Ching Yu.
Tajikistan’s best female boxer, the Paris Olympian Mizhgona Samadova is a strong puncher at the women’s 57kg and she landed tough combinations to beat a local athlete, the former Asian medallist Nomin-Erdene Tugsjargal.
Thailand’s Punrawee Ruenros has now eight years of international experience and she is the defending Asian Champion. The Thai used her brilliant technical skills to beat Kazakhstan’s Ulzhan Sarsenbek and she is one step closer to her dream.
Uzbekistan’s Jasurbek Yuldashev kept his younger Kyrgyz opponent, Mukhammadaziz Zakirov on long and he is now a semi-finalist at the 85kg. Mongolia’s Dorj Bariakhaan and India’s Lokesh also qualified for the last four after their victories today.
Tajikistan’s Nekruz Salimov had a tough opponent in the quarter-finals of the 80kg, Indonesia’s SEA Games winner Maikhel Roberrd Muskita but he managed to do the best strategy while Uzbekistan’s favourite, Fazliddin Erkinboyev also joined the last four.
Kazakhstan’s Sagyndyk Togambay, the defending Asian Champion, controlled his re-match against China’s Han Xuezhen and he made a revenge today. Uzbekistan’s Khalimjon Mamasoliyev, and India’s Harsh Choudhary also advanced to the medal phase.
