Luxembourg and host Portugal won important quarter-final bouts at the Portimao Box Cup

Luxembourg and Portugal won important quarter-finals in the second session of the Portimao Box Cup at the Arena Portimao today.

Luxembourg also sent a team to Portimao, and their first boxer in action was Junior Dos Santos Vieira who tried to overcame his opponent, Rafael Pineda at the middleweight (75kg) and he succeeded with his physical strength.

Switzerland’s Noah Villaverde was under pressure in the first minute but he found the rhythm against a local boy, Allison Paterra in time. The Swiss light middleweight (71kg) boxer was better seconds by seconds and he finished his job with heavy shots in the third round.

Portugal’s Rodrigo Santos is in developing stage and he proved that against an English boxer, Harry Whatley at the light middleweight (71kg). France’s Oumar Ba delivered the next energetic performance, he was too strong for Ali Doumbuya.

Malachy Burke arrived from Bournemouth to the competition and he met another English, Spencer Poole in a great light middleweight (71kg) bout. Poole was more punctual and he finished the job in the second round.

Portugal’s Paulo Santos tried to find the best attacking angles against Adam Stuanton in an important welterweight (67kg) quarter-final and he succeeded. Luxembourg’s next boxer, Diogo De Almeida walked over to the semi-finals due to England’s Gez Millard was unable to fight against him.

Portugal’s light welterweight (63.5kg) boxer, Elton Tavares trains in the famous Privilegio Boxing Club with coach Bruno Carvalho and he won one of the hardest contests of the day against Leon McMahon of Ulster.

Elisandro Monteiro is one of the aces in the host city’s team, and the southpaw worked from longer distance against Jose Bolela but his opponent has done a great final round to win this welterweight (67kg) quarter-final bout.
