Mexico’s Diego Flores knocked out his opponent in La Nucia on Day1

The Boxam Youth-Junior-Schoolboys-Schoolgirls Tournament opened with 39 contests in La Nucia, Alicante today.

Two contests were held at the schoolgirls 57kg weight class in La Nucia where firstly Leyre Rodriguez, secondly Mexico’s Elsa Carrillo won them.

Mexico’s Ian Salvador Rodriguez increased the tempo after the first round and the southpaw stopped his Spaniard opponent, Aitor Gutierrez at the schoolboys 60kg weight class.

Wales’ Tory Hayer, who has already seven years of experience in the sport, worked from longer range against Spain’s Ayoub El-Mousaoui El-Gharib in the first round of their junior bantamweight (54kg) bout. The local boxer returned to the contest in the second round but Hayer’s great finish decided their meeting in La Nucia today.

Spain’s Rodrigo Sanchez was smaller than France’s Dramane Diarra but from the second round he found the best distance against his opponent and he made a U-turn in this junior featherweight (57kg) contest.

The referee counted Sonny Hollingsworth in the first round but the 15-year-old English boy demonstrated his competitiveness after that moment and he turned back the lightweight (60kg) contest against Georgia’s Sandro Kapanadze.

Spain’s European medallist Noelia Gutierrez is their best female youth boxer who had the strong shots in the first round and she had the strong advantage against Ainhoa Rodriguez in their women’s youth flyweight (52kg) bout.

France’s Sandro Spica is their best youth talent in the national team and the 18-year-old boxer outpointed Mexico’s Erick Santiago Ruiz at the lightweight (60kg). Colombia’s duo, Orlando Luis Perez (63.5kg) and Denzel Bermudez (67kg) both won close contests in the first session in La Nucia.

Mexico’s hope in the youth age group, Juan Diego Flores delivered the first KO of the Boxam Tournament, against his Bulgarian opponent, Ilia Marinov. Romania’s Eduard Muset won the last bout of the session, he eliminated Mexico’s Luis Fernando Rodriguez at the youth light heavyweight (80kg).
