The Abdaliyev Tournament was a selection for the top Kazakh boxers

The Abdaliyev Tournament was a selection event for the Kazakh boxers in the city of Shymkent and the quality looked world-class.

Mr. Karakozy Abdaliyev was a Kazakh-Soviet soldier who was awarded to the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union in 1943 due to his brave actions in World War II.

The dream final of the minimumweight (48kg) has realized in Shymkent between two World Champions but Sanzhar Tashkenbay was not able to fight against Temirtas Zhussupov who won this final by walk over.

A relatively new face won the title of the flyweight (51kg), Damir Abdikadyr with top performance.

The defending World Champion Makhmud Sabyrkhan had a very easy success over Ukraine’s Oleg Chulyacheyev in the semi-finals of the featherweight (57kg) but he suffered a loss to Orazbek Assylkulov who used the best strategy against the 23-year-old star.

Following the main surprise of the day, the former Asian Youth Champion Biybars Zheksen worked enough in the final of the lightweight (60kg) to beat the Tokyo Olympian Serik Temirzhanov while the Asian Games quarter-finalist Yertugan Zeinullinov (63.5kg) returned with a gold medal in Shymkent.

The Paris Olympian Mukhammedsabyr Bazarbay Uulu had a hard but successful mission against the 19-year-old Ilia Kalinin at the welterweight (67kg) while the ASBC Asian U22 Champion Sabyrzhan Akkalykov walked over against the returning Abylaykhan Zhussupov at the light middleweight (71kg).

Dias Molzhigitov, the former Youth World bronze medallist, finally defeated his main national rival, Nurkanat Raiys at the middleweight (75kg) before Yerassyl Zhakpekov was too strong for Ukraine’s Youth World Champion teenager, Mykyta Zasenok at the light heavyweight (80kg).

The 2019 World Champion Bekzat Nurdauletov did not underestimate his young rival, Temirlan Mukatayev in the final of the cruiserweight (86kg) but the Asian Games bronze medallist Sagyndyk Togambay (92kg) and the ASBC Asian Champion Aybek Oralbay (+92kg) also impressed in their title contests.
