The Czechs exceeded the expectations in Lindow on Day3

Further 31 contests featured at the German U17 International Open Tournament in Lindow where several of the Czechs exceeded the expectations.

Australia’s Belle Spicer enjoyed her comfortable victories in the previous two competition days but the boxer from Down Under suffered a loss to Czech Republic’s Eliska Gubova at the women’s flyweight (50kg).

Netherlands’ unbeaten Liz Thijssen, Germany’s Joelle Heuer, Australia’s Mae McKenzie were also among the female winners of the day.

Charlotte Kienel is one of the flag bearers in the German women’s junior national team who had a tight bout against Australia’s Seanadh-Leigh McEleney but she won their lightweight (60kg) bout by split decision.

Czech Republic’s Alica Lazarova faced her teammate in the third day of boxing, the Ukrainian-descent Katerina Marynets but she had the skills to beat her therefore she secured another surprise success at the women’s lightweight (60kg) in Lindow.

New Zealand’s lone participant in the Open, Motekiai Huni was the best boxer of the first competition day and the young Kiwi defeated his second opponent in Lindow, Germany’s Junior National Champion Emilio Sippel.

Czech Republic has some potentially strong future elite hope in this junior team and one of them is Tomas Suchy, a native talent in our sport, who defeated Ukraine’s Maksym Husiev with great enthusiasm at the men’s light welterweight (63kg).

Germany’s Baker Nemer from the Nordrhein-Westfalen region bagged only a bronze at the 2023 Schoolboys Nationals but he earned a gold among the juniors immediately this year. The 15-year-old hopeful defeated his main national rival, Rafail Nurislamov today following a Ukrainian, Nazar Masynets won his contest in this featherweight (57kg).

The Czechs had several unexpected successes in this U17 event, their new junior team contains high number of great prospects. Their Jan Sykora not only had a brave attempt to beat Australia’s favourite, Judd Alderton but he won all of the three rounds in each scorecard.
